The Bea's Knees & The Cat's Whiskers to feature in British GQ magazine?

I've only been contacted by the Senior Sales Executive from British GQ Magazine. Here is an excerpt from an email I received via my website :

"I'm contacting you from British GQ magazine with regards to a wall-art advertorial we are preparing in the magazine. 'Wonderwall’ will showcase the very best art and canvas pieces, and companies that will attract our affluent male GQ readers.

With Nick Ca

We are currently preparing our Nov/Dec/Jan Christmas issues, which are the biggest sellers of the year. I would love to be in touch with someone that deals with your marketing, to discuss opportunities to feature in GQ and in particular, on the Wonderwall advertorial."

Great News - Now Even Better Quality Canvas Prints!

Great news!As if our canvas prints weren't fantastic enough as they were, we have recently changed the way we produce them, which has, believe it or not, improved the quality of the finish.

We have changed the canvas from a 340gsm weave to a 350gsm weave, so they are even heavier and more durable. This is the same standard of canvas that you would find in a museum or art gallery. Furthermore, we now add a subtle laminate to seal the surface which not only helps to protect them, but makes them even more hard wearing and easy to clean and maintain. You can gently wipe dirt and marks from the surface without jeopardising the integrity of the canvas or the ink.

Secondly, we are now using a chunky 45mm deep profile, ultra-stable frame. This means that the frames are not susceptible to twisting or warping and they are even more sturdy. They give a very solid, high quality finish, whilst still being light. There is also a new, sturdier hanger attached to the back.

Take a look at the pictures below to see what we mean.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better - we are pleased to announce that we have not increased the cost, so our canvases are now even better value for money! there has never been a better time to order a bespoke canvas print from The Bea's Knees & The Cat's Whiskers!

Some exciting and important news!

We have some exciting news coming soon about a business collaboration! Watch this space for further details!

Further important news : We are always seeking to improve our products and services and as a consequence, we have changed the wooden frames we use for our canvas prints. We now use an even sturdier, chunky 45mm deep wooden frame. They add a real sense of strength and quality. They are still kiln dried to a moisture content of 8% or less to prevent warping in a centrally heated environment and they are still carefully crafted by hand. The canvas itself is still the very high quality, 340gsm museum standard, so all in all, you can expect an even higher quality of finish. Due to chunkier frames being used, the measurements of some of our canvases has changed slightly. Do not fear though, as where there is a change, they are bigger! We are not passing on any extra cost to our customers, so our products are now even better value for money!

What are you waiting for? Order yours today!

The Wedding Season!

Well, it has been a very busy few weeks at The Bea's Knees And The Cat's Whiskers. I have had lots of orders for Father's Day and all prints and canvases have now been despatched to some lucky Dads! I feel very privileged to be asked to commit so many special memories and words to print for the special person on the big day. I hope that the Dad's will love their designs as much as I did creating them.

Anyway, we are now into the time of year when weddings are at their peak. I have already done several over the last couple of months but I am hoping to do many more for those happy couples who are tying the knot over the next few months. The framed prints and canvases make fantastic, unique gifts and ensure that they never forget all of the important details about their day. They should also serve as a nice reminder to the husbands when their anniversary approaches......he should never forget a card (and a present) again!

A New Concept - Shaped Mounts

I have recently produced some new designs, based on a slightly different concept. Rather than a personalised print, mounted in a standard mount, I have designed some prints which are placed within a shaped mount. These are great for certain special occasions. For example, I have mounts with the aperture in the shape of a cross, which are ideal as a Christening gift. Personal details, such as the name and date can be produced on the print and displayed within the cross. I also have mounts with the aperture in the shape of a house - ideal gifts for someone buying a new home. The print I have designed to fit into it is based around a repetitive "Home Sweet Home" text but with the name of the recipient highlighted in a contrasting colour. Examples of these can now be seen on the website under the "Shaped Mounts" tab under Categories. If you want to see what they look like within one of our bespoke frames, take a look below.
I have a few more ideas for some other shapes, so watch the website as they will be available soon. By the way, these products are slightly smaller than others and make for fantastic, compact gifts. Due to their size, they are cheaper, however, all of the designs are printed on the same high quality 300gsm card, the mounts and backing boards are archival standard and the frames are our usual, high quality, chunky, made to measure bespoke frames. So, you can be sure that you are still getting the exact same high standard materials and quality of finish that you would expect from all of our products.

Thank You Cards - A good idea?

I have recently designed some Thank You cards for a friend. They are a little different from my usual designs as I also inserted a photograph to make them even more personal. These are a couple of templates of the design. You can see that there is a space in the middle where a photograph would go. I have added a couple of photographs of my two beautiful daughters in the purple one just to give you an idea of what they might look like. Obviously, the customer would send me the photograph(s) they want included. The back of the card is designed like a post card, with a space for a message and lines for a name and address. You can simply fill it in, stick on a stamp and post them as they are.  They are not available on my website yet as I am seeking some feedback first.

What do you think? A good idea?

About Me

Hi, my name is Suzanne Thomas and I am the founder and owner of The Bea's Knees And The Cat's Whiskers. This is the first news bulletin on my new website so I thought I would start off by giving a little bit of background information about me and my business.
As I am sure you are aware by now, I specialise in designing and producing bespoke, personalised typography artwork. The designs are finishd as museum standard canvas prints and high quality mounted or framed card prints. All of the designs are customisable - you are able to change all of the elements of the artwork, including words, phrases, and even colour schemes. This makes each design personal and unique to each customer. There are plenty of examples for you to browse through on this site, together with instructions on how you can configure and order your print.

I am thirty seven years old, married to my husband, Martin, and together, we have two beautiful daughters - Ursula Bea, who will be three years old this June, and Clara Belle, who is now eighteen months old. I was born and raised in London, which is where I studied Display And Exhibition Design. When I left college, I pursued a career in fashion retail and became a Visual Merchandising Manager. This experience, together with my studies has meant that I have developed a keen eye for elements that work well together. I am also quite the perfectionist!
Martin and I married in 2008 and we moved away from the South East, to our current home in Worcester. I gave up my sixteen year career in retail at the beginning of 2012, so that I could be a full time mum. Being at home gave me the incentive and time to realise one of my long term ambitions - to set up and run a business from home.
With my background and interests, I naturally began to develop ideas based around design. I taught myself how to use graphic design software and I dabbled with a couple of projects including designing and making some personalised artwork, thank you and gift cards. These received great feedback from friends and family and from there, the business idea was born. It is something that I have taken to easily and naturally. I also thoroughly enjoy the work. I love the process of designing the prints, which often contain many special and treasured memories. I feel privileged that someone has chosen me to commit theirs or another's memories and experiences to print. It feels as though I am piecing together a huge part of somebody's life. That is why I take great care and pride in what I do. I ensure that all of my customers receive a personal service from start to finish. I want everyone to receive a piece of artwork that will take pride of place in their home and create a talking point in any room.

One last thing - you may be wondering about how I came up with the name for my business, particlarly with the non conventional spelling of "Bea's".....Well, the eagle eyed of you will have noticed that my eldest daughter's middle name is Bea. My husband and I affectionately refer to our youngest daughter by the pet name of Clara "Cat". So there you have it! I have incorporated two of the most important people in my life into the name of my business.....
